Overview

Our membership department is comprised of a Portfolio Councillor (Vera Wasacase), Membership Clerk (Leila Louison) and Membership Committee. The membership clerk provides several services to our members, including the following:

  • Managing our membership database
  • Creating status cards
  • Handling applications for membership according to our Membership Code
  • Providing statistics and data for internal and external use
  • Providing application forms for various pieces of ID.

Kahkewistahaw Currently has a population of 1624 (as of January 2007)

  • 647 On-Reserve (40%)
  • 946 Off-Reserve (58%)
  • 31 Affiliates (2%)
Transfers

(Children ages 17 and under accepted since December 9, 2004)

  • 4 In Process

Balance of transfers is awaiting final paper work.

Kahkewistahaw Membership Code

Our membership code was approved by our electors on September 15th, 2006 and brought into effect on October 10th, 2006.

In sum, the membership code sets the rules for the operation of our membership department and defines how membership is created and revoked (among other things).

Membership Issues
Status Cards

If you require a status card, our membership office can create one for you. With a few terms:

  • As of July 1st, 2005, I.N.A.C. requires 2 pieces of identification before a card can be made.
  • Status cards can no longer be mailed out.
  • There is a 2 dollar fee to help off set the cost of film.
Registration

It is important that you register your child before their first birthday. I.N.A.C. only covers his/her benefits for the first year before they are no longer covered. (ie: medical services, prescriptions).

Membership Addresses

Kahkewistahaw often sends mail-outs (such as newsletters and reports) to members. Therefore it is important that all members keep their contact information up to date with the Membership Department.

If you wish to update your membership information you may do so by calling our membership clerk @ 1-888-691-0188 or by updating your information through email via membership@kahkewistahaw.com.

When updating through email please include the following information:

  • Your Full Name
  • Your Status Number
  • Your Mailing Address
  • Your Telephone Number (if applicable)
  • Other members (including dependents) who are living with you.
Application forms available at the membership office.

For the convenience of our members, our membership office provides the following forms:

  • Health Services Card
  • Social Insurance Card Form
  • Birth Certificate Form
  • Marriage Certificate Form
  • Death Certificate Form
