The Kahkewistahaw First Nation is seeking applications for the following two positions:

• Maintainance Worker
• Custodian

The role of the Maintainance worker will be to maintain and ensure smooth operation of the Public Works for the First Nation. This includes the maintainance and operations of our heavy equipment as well as the installation of new roads and lines for Kahkewistahaw.

The Custodian will be responsible for the cleaning of the following buildings: Band Office, Resource Center, Housing Office, and Complex washrooms.

Our website has had a bit of a hiccup, while everything was transferred to a new server, and as a result we had lost about 2 weeks worth of news and website changes. Well, thanks to the excellent work on the part of our hosting company, everything should be operating normally now, with only a couple of days of data loss.

In other news, the Kahkewistahaw 2008 powwow has concluded. We had a bit of a rainy year, but our powwow was still very successful. Additionally, we held a raffle and the list of winners is also up.

The Kahkewistahaw First Nation is seeking a highly enthusiastic committed individual to fill the full-time position of Youth Coordinator Assistant. The successful individual will assist the Youth Coordinator in the planning and implementation of activities, as well as provide clerical support for the Youth Coordinator.

The deadline for applications is July 18th, 2008, and the starting date will be July 28th, 2008.

Due to a directive passed down from the current Chief and Council, the forums will hereby be immediately and permanently locked down.

Kahkewistahaw will be hosting their 2008 powwow on July 11th to 13th. Grand Entry is set to begin on Friday at 8:00pm, and on Saturday and Sundays at 1pm and 7pm.

Top prizes for our categories are as follows:
Drums: $4000.00
Golden Age: $800.00
Mens: $800.00
Ladies: $800.00
Teen: $400.00
Junior: $200.00
