Chief Louis Earl Taypotat was re-elected on May 11, 2007. Chief
Taypotat has not only served as Chief throughout many of the 27 years since his first term began, but he
also sits on several YTC and FSIN boards and commissions, such as the Treasury
Board Commission, Economic Development Commission, Housing Commission,
and the Board of Directors at Wanuskewin. Chief Taypotat is a family
man, with 7 children, 12 grand-children and a great grand-child.

Amanda Louison |

First Term: May 2003
Amanda Louison recieved her first job in 1973, as a secretary for Cowessess First Nation. In 1991, Amanda was convocated from the University of Regina, with a diploma in Administration. In May 1995, Amanda became Chief, but returned to council in May 1997. In August 1999, Amanda took a job with the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN), but resigned upon being nominated for council in 2001. Amanda Louison works with several committees under her portfolios, including those set up at the Tribal Council level; she was also the team leader for the Kahkewistahaw Land Claims Committee prior to the settlement. Amanda has been married to her husband, Urbin, for 36 years. They have two grown children, a 32 year-old son, and a 30 year-old daughter, as well as three grandsons.

After completing his high school in 1987, Michael attended the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College (SIFC) working toward a degree in Indian Education. In 1989, Michael switched his major to Physical Activities Studies (PAS). It was during his third year of PAS, that Michael was asked to run for council.
During Michael's terms he has had several portfolios including: Education, Recreation, Economic Development and Land Claims, in addition to his current portfolios. Michael has resided on reserve for most of his life. He only left to seek an Education and venture out into the world traveling but has always came back 'home' to Kahkewistahaw. Michael currently resides with his two daughters Alicia and Jessica as well as with his wife Melinda. Michael's previous terms on council are as follows: - May 1993 - May 1995

Josephine Kay |

Previous to Josephine's first election into the Council in May 2003, she worked at various levels of band administration including the positions of: receptionist, membership/medical clerk, post-secondary councillor, education coordinator, and band councillor.
Josephine possesses a Business Administration Diploma and an Honors Accounting Diploma, in addition to other professional and personal training certifications.
Josephine has lived on Kahkewistahaw for 24 years, and is married with four children.
