The Kahkewistahaw First Nation is accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker. This is a full time position. The Maintenance Worker will work under the direct supervision of the O&M Supervisor The role of the Maintenance Worker will be to maintain and ensure smooth operation of the Public Works for the First Nation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate Heavy Equipment; loader, backhoe, grader, bull dozer, and scraper.
  • Service and maintain all Band owned and operated equipment.
  • Install sewer and water lines.
  • Building of new roads and recapping older roads.
  • Snow Removal
  • A detailed job description is available at the HR office.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to work independently and in team atmosphere
  • Able to set and meet deadlines
  • Ability to effectively deal with the public, Chief and Council, fellow employees and most importantly the general Kahkewistahaw membership
  • Must be familiar with the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment
  • Must possess a valid 1A driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
