Junior girls wrestling team successfully defends title

Forty nine students from the Chief Kahkewistahaw Community School, near Broadview, travelled to Saskatoon recently to participate in the Saskatchewan Amateur (Olympic style) Wrestling Provincial Age Class Championships.

As with most wrestling competitions, the Saskatchewan Provincials are done by age, gender and weight of the competitors. This competition included teams from all over Saskatchewan (including teams from Weyburn, Regina, Moose Jaw and several other communities).

The Kahkewistahaw Hurricane wrestling team, a two year old program, successfully defended the Team Championship they won last year for Freshie, Novice and Pee Wee girls. In addition, our team produced 10 gold medals, 13 silver medals, and 12 bronze medals for a combined total of 38 medals amongst all of our participants.
